WOUNDED HEALERS
Peer Support for Front-Line Workers in the Edmonton Area.
Burnout and isolation is NOT part of your job description.

' He who has a "why" to live for can bear almost any how.
- Nietzsche
Those working on the front-lines amongst the most vulnerable are the backbone of our communities. Strenuous shift work, stacked with the challenges of everyday living naturally take a toll on your overall well being. Sure, some extent of self-sacrifice might be expected for anyone who answers the calling to work in healthcare or social services.
Creating space for people to grieve, process and integrate the hard earned wisdom from your lived experiences is essential to your well being. Yet, too many professionals lack making the time to take measures to restore our own mental and emotional health. This can be especially difficult for people working with vulnerable populations, the ill or challenging adults and families.

No reasonable human-being can be expected to simply put behind witnessing adverse events and sometimes traumatizing experiences and keep marching forward unscathed. When the duress of our personal and professional lives collide we can lose touch with what matters most. This is hard-earned wisdom sometimes learned only after a personal crisis ensues. Wounded Healers is a support group to help first-reponders to connect with people who share and understand this lived experience.
