THE IMPORTANCE OF GOING TO COUNSELLING
I'm willing to bet, if your reading these words, you're probably someone who has already suffered considerable hardship throughout your own life. And you understand how when someone opens up and shares their story of loss or suffering, it's something special. Sacred.
Aside from of my professional credentials, you could say, I've acquired some hard earned wisdom in this area myself. Between overcoming my own hardships and working amongst the most disheartened, the truest lesson I've learned is:
"We are only as healthy, as we are able to navigate our own pain."
Let me explain further. Seasons of my own story have been rife with loss, heartache, rejection, regret and self-sabotage. Had I never started to fall apart to the point of needing help myself, I probably wouldn't have ever realized the value of going to counselling.
It was when a wise counsellor uttered these words to me when I was able to finally fall-apart and rebuild.

People need people to hold space for your story to be entirely heard and understood. The greatest counsellors I know have lived stories of profound loss and suffering. An effective counsellor ensures you are fully heard and understood by someone who cares. Someone who provides a safe place where where "not being okay, is more than okay" is essential to your restoration.
It may seem counterintuitive, though by having someone to unpack and share the messy and not-so-perfect parts of our stories with jump-starts and accelerates your restoration. It's often exactly what's been missing.
